As Project Architect, Breck Hamm focuses primarily on production drawings and coordinates closely with consultants and engineers to ensure design requirements are met. Let’s get to know Breck outside (and inside) the office and see what makes him a true icon of #HumphreysHeroes culture:
- What is your Alma mater?
I graduated with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Architecture from Texas Tech University. Wreck ‘em!
- Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a small town you have never heard of…Plains, TX…about 70 miles southwest of Lubbock and close to the New Mexico border. We had a population of a little over 1,000, and I graduated high school with 26 people. So…very small, but there are some nice things about growing up in a small town.
- What are your hobbies outside of the office?
I have always loved going to the lake during the summer and snowboarding during the winter. I also enjoy bow hunting when I get the chance and woodworking. During these pandemic times, I have enjoyed gardening and cooking/grilling.
- What is your proudest accomplishment?
The birth of my son… I can’t say that I have ever felt that kind of pride before. Other than that, finally receiving my license in Architecture after years of school and taking tests felt pretty good.
- If you could travel anywhere where would it be?
I’m fortunate enough to have traveled to Athens, Rome and Paris on my honeymoon, where I was able to see some of the great historical achievements in architecture. My wife is an Interior Designer, so we both love seeing those things together. If I could go anywhere now, I think either Japan or south China/Nepal. It would be amazing to see these unique landscapes.
- If you could choose one superpower, what would it be?
The power of flight, for sure! Or maybe the ability to freeze time…
- What is your favorite part about working at HPA?
I appreciate that if you put the time and work in, that it’s possible to move up the ladder relatively fast. I have also worked with some amazing team members and clients over my past 8 years here.
