As the #1-ranked multifamily architecture firm in North America, Humphreys & Partners heavily relies on its talented team from around the world to create innovative, one-of-a-kind communities. As the project coordinator, Kenneth’s main responsibilities include leading the production team in the New Orleans office and walking projects from the schematic phase to transforming them into a fully constructible set of drawings. Get to know Kenneth outside the office and see what makes them a true icon of HPA culture.
What is your alma mater?
Louisiana State University – Geaux Tigers!
Where did you grow up?
Arlington, Virginia
What are your hobbies outside of the office?
My favorite hobbies include bird watching with my girlfriend Grace, as well as passionately supporting my favorite sports teams the LSU Tigers and the Washington Capitals. I also enjoy woodworking and furniture design.
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why?
For a practical trip? Europe. You just can’t beat the density of history and culture that’s so well preserved there. For something more exotic, an “expedition” up the Congo River for a wildlife tour. Something about being in the depths of the rainforest on a continent an ocean away seems so interesting and enticing to me. My brother and I grew up watching nature documentaries all the time and the mysteries of the African rainforests have always intrigued me.
What would be your last meal?
My mom’s Christmas ham.
What/who gives you the most joy in life and why?
My mom’s Christmas ham. All jokes aside, I’m going with a “safe” answer here and saying both my mom and my girlfriend Grace. My mom has been the sheriff of my hometown since I was five years old and even with that responsibility on her shoulders, she was still at every baseball game I played and made dinner every night. She showed me even with a tough job you can still find a good balance. She is a rock star and is one-of-a-kind. My girlfriend Grace is my rock, and we do everything together. We’ve been dating for four years now and there’s not really a moment of my life where she hasn’t been there for me. Special shoutouts to our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, “Gally”, and our tuxedo cat “Flo”.
What’s your favorite part about working at HPA?
The team effort. I know that if I hit a challenge or an obstacle, there are a variety of people at HPA I can go to for help, and I try to return the favor when people come to me. My dad growing up taught me the value of doing what the team needs. The projects we execute are difficult enough that they’re impossible to accomplish alone. It takes a team to take these projects from the first rough sketch to the final coat of paint, and I’m glad to do my small part in that process the best that I can alongside some great teammates. Special shoutouts to Danny, Tanya, Tim, and Laura from the NOLA office for being great mentors as well as former HPA employees Kathryn Seal and Natasha Cox who trained me when I first started at HPA.
