Construction has started on the Humphreys & Partners’ design solution to an abandoned parking structure in Sparks, Nevada.

A luxury apartment building will be constructed around a vacant parking garage, left untouched by developers for eight years after the 2008 financial crisis. The building is a wrap project that was designed around the multilevel garage. “An additional design challenge was the severe slope of the garage” explained Humphreys’ California Director Vince Chupka.

The new construction signals vast economic improvements in the area’s economy and will serve its growing needs as strong companies, Tesla and Amazon among others, move in.

“We are seeing a boom in the Nevada market”, said Chupka, “we have several projects going forward for multiple clients.”

The Waterfront at Sparks Marina will be a landmark property for greater Reno, featuring 209 opulent units, many with mountain or lake views, and unrivaled amenities including a rooftop terrace and luxury clubhouse. Construction is expected to be completed in June 2018.

Multi-use improvements are also planned for the recently acquired Marina TownCentre next door, offering nine third-floor residential units and second-floor office, retail and restaurant space.
