As the leading multifamily innovator and architecture firm in North America, we rely on our incredible team of designers to do more than create communities around the world for clients– they champion projects through to completion. As a Project Manager in our Dallas office, Kenneth communicates with clients and team members to ensure that projects are moving along smoothly. Let’s get to know Ken outside (and inside) the office and see what makes him a true icon of #HumphreysHeroes culture:

  1. Where is your hometown?

I was actually born in East LA but moved to Gardena, California when I was 10 years old. My wife and I decided to move out to Texas a few years ago when Toyota asked her to transfer.

  1. What is your alma mater?

University of California at Berkeley. Go Bears!

  1. Which architect inspires you?

Frank Gehry. He is an architect in LA. He does a lot of eclectic stuff. The Walt Disney Concert Hall that he did is fascinating. Legend has it that he modeled that building after a crumbled cocktail napkin. My wife actually gave me an original Frank Gehry sketch of the Concert Hall as a gift on our wedding day.

  1. What are some of your hobbies outside of the office?

Well I am just like a typical dude. I love sports. I play basketball, I like to golf and work out. I like to snowboard. I like playing the drums and listening to music – everything from Mozart to McCartney.

  1. If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

How about traveling through time instead? I love history and I think it would be so neat to travel back into the past. I would love to go back and see where my parents grew up and how they lived.

  1. If you were not doing architecture, what would you be doing?

Doing time….just kidding.  During the recession, I actually was laid off from my architecture job at the time. There was an application to be an LA County Firefighter, so I filled it out, took the test and passed. So right before I was scheduled to take the firefighter physical, I was offered another architecture job, which I accepted.

We hope you have enjoyed getting to know Ken, one of our world-class team members here at HPA! Stay tuned for more #HumphreysHeroes blog posts in the future. In the meantime, engage with us on FacebookTwitterLinkedIn and Instagram for all things HPA-related.
