Among all income levels and age groups suffering from the current nationwide housing shortage, one of the demographics most affected is senior citizens. From coast to coast, the current selection of senior housing facilities across the US is outdated, weather-worn and unsafe. In short, they do not meet the demands of retiring Baby Boomers that have high expectations of their retirement communities. Boomer residents want upscale amenities, state-of-the-art medical facilities and to feel connected with the surrounding community in which they live. The lack of luxury senior living options has developers scrambling to meet this sudden influx of retirees and their high standard of living. Our client requested a one-of-a-kind senior living community that combined all of these living experiences into a sophisticated retirement community designed by a world-class team of designers.
Solution
The Blake at the Grove is strategically located 10 miles south of Baton Rouge in a sprawling 118-acre traditional neighborhood development and offers its residents so much more than just a place to call home. The Blake is a resort-style retirement community and an elegant solution providing an upscale senior living experience built around a village center theme. This mixed-use project was designed in a contemporary colonial style and is comprised of a 3-story independent living wing and 2-story assisted living and memory care wing all on an 8.5-acre site. An inviting common area connects the entire community with shared amenities and soaring 25’ ceilings. Unique suites, amenities, and outdoor spaces were carefully designed to fit the needs and lifestyle of residents.
Life enrichment is the cornerstone of The Blake at The Grove’s mission. The Blake’s design features 213 residences broken down into 111 units for independent living, 67 units for assisted living and another 35 suites in an adjoining memory care facility that specializes in Alzheimer’s and dementia care. A salon, activity rooms, movie room, card-playing room, on-site physical therapy clinic and several gathering rooms encourage social engagements while pedestrian and bike trails surrounding the property offer leisurely fun. Shopping and dining are just a few minutes’ walk away at the nearby Mall of Louisiana.
